This Privacy Policy (Policy) outlines how Perinatal Stories Australia handles your Personal Information (collected via the website located at https://www.perinatalstoriesaustralia.com) in respect to when and why we collect, use, disclose, store, secure, and dispose of it.

By using our website, you’re agreeing to be bound by this policy. Perinatal Stories Australia reserves the right to make alterations to this policy whenever we deem reasonable and you as the client assume sole responsibility for checking this policy for updates on a regular basis.

This privacy policy applies only to our services‚ so we encourage you to read the privacy statements on the other websites you visit. Collect

At all times we try to only collect the information we need to keep you informed or to provide a service to you.

We collect personal information about you only when you voluntarily provide it, such as when you:

  • subscribe to our mailing list.

  • submit information to our website (such as when you submit your story for consideration on the podcast or request to collaborate through sponsorship or other opportunities you indicate are of interest at the time).

  • when you contact us.

Personally identifiable information can be used to contact or identify you and may include, but is not limited to: your name, business name, your email address, and any other information that you choose to provide to us in order to contact you as a potential guest of the podcast or collaborator, or to stay updated with our content.

You do not have to provide us with your personal information. However, if you choose not to provide us with your personal information, we may not be able to provide you with our services or otherwise interact with you.

Under certain circumstances, we may need to collect sensitive information about you. Sensitive information is defined in the Privacy Act to include any information or opinion about your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, political association, religious or philosophical beliefs, membership of a trade union or other professional body, sexual preferences, criminal record, or health information. If we collect sensitive information, we will only do so with your consent when you voluntarily submit your mental health and motherhood experience for consideration on the podcast.

Disclose

Under no circumstances will Perinatal Stories Australia directly disclose or sell your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes. We are strongly against any form of internet 'spam' and keep all collected information strictly confidential in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Your personal information may be disclosed to third parties in circumstances where you would reasonably expect us to disclose your information, including the following:

    • Please note, some of the third-party service providers we disclose personal information to may be based, or have servers located, outside of Australia. For instance, Flodesk, Inc. will transfer personal information to the United States and process it there. Your use of the website and subscription to our mailing list represents your agreement to that transfer. If you consent for us to transfer your personal information to an overseas recipient, the overseas recipient will not be required to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles and we will not be liable for any mishandling of your information in such circumstances. Please note, your personal information may be exposed from time to time to maintenance and support personnel acting in the normal course of their duties.

Store and secure

The security of our data is important to us. Your personal information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, including by:

  • taking measures to restrict access to only personnel who need that personal information to effectively provide services to you.

  • having technological measures in place including, but not limited to, antivirus and security software, password-protected systems, and two-factor authentication where available.

Any data collected from you is sent over an SSL secure connection, meaning all communications between the website and your browser(s) are encrypted and secure.

Any data processed by one of the third parties working on our behalf is also sent over an encrypted SSL connection. Third parties are contracted to provide a high level of security on their systems.

We take every reasonable measure to prevent against loss, damage, theft or misuse where possible, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

In some circumstances, the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides additional protection to individuals located in Europe. The fact that you may be located in Europe does not, however, on its own entitle you to protection under the GDPR. Our website does not specifically target customers located in the European Union and we do not monitor the behaviour of individuals in the European Union, and accordingly the GDPR does not apply.

Dispose

We will retain and use your personal data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws, such as record-keeping obligations), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.

We will not keep your personal information for longer than we need to. However, most of the personal information is, or will be, stored in client files which will be kept by us for a minimum of 7 years. You agree that we may retain any of your personal information indefinitely, although we are not obliged to do so.

When your personal information is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your personal information.
